Cala Benirras

Cala Benirras

Cala Benirras

The beautiful Benirrás beach is set on the north-west coast of the island and is famous for attracting hippies and peace lovers. This part sandy part rocky beach has clear waters and is sheltered by the rocks and from the shoreline you can lookout to sea where the rock formation known as Cap Bernat (or referred to locals as ‘the finger of God’) protrudes from the ocean.

Cala Benirrás is also famous for the iconic Benirras Sunday sunset ritual where hundreds of people gather to listen to the sound of melodic drumming as the sunsets. It’s a magical experience.

WHEN TO GO

Arrive early in the morning and you can almost have this place for your own but come for sunset and the beach comes alive especially on Sundays. It does get busy after lunchtime and parking is limited so expect to find a spot along the winding road that leads to the beach.

WHERE TO EAT

There are three restaurants at Cala Benirrás with the best being Elements Ibiza Restaurant which offer a fabulous fresh menu, events and can be used as a wedding venue.

GETTING THERE

From San Miguel follow the easy to follow signs down to Benirrás Beach. On Sundays (first week of June until the first weekend in October) the road to the beach is closed due to the number of people that arrive to see the sunset and drumming. There is a special bus service on these Sundays from the Sa Plana car park near Can Coroner every 15 minutes.
